Band competes to perform at Summerfest

--- Launchpad competition comes to Wauwatosa East

Amazing Graceland, a Christian rock group based at the First United Methodist Church in Whitewater, will compete Friday for a chance to perform at Summerfest.

Whitewater's Amazing Graceland Christian rock group will compete Friday at Wauwatosa East High School at 4 p.m. for a chance to perform at Summerfest.
The band will perform in statewide competition designed to launch local high school students into the spotlight.

Launchpad is a battle of the bands organized by the Wisconsin Foundation of School Music. The winner gets a free professional recording session and the chance to perform at one of the nation's largest music festivals, Summerfest.

Band members consist of Whitewater High School students Tom Ramstad, Noelle Werner, Michael Borglin, Chris Lamsam; and Lauren Hayes of Fort Atkinson High School.

Amazing Graceland will take the stage and compete in a 16-band concert hosted at Wauwatosa East High School on May 9 begining at 4 p.m.

Each band will be performing three songs from their audition recordings. Amazing Graceland is scheduled to perform at 6:50 p.m.

Admission to the concert is $5 at the door.

Fans, friends, family and the public are invited to support the group. Those wishing to car pool or travel with the group can meet in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church, 145 S. Prairie St. by 3:30 p.m.

The Amazing Graceland 45-passenger bus will leave promptly at 4 p.m. For more information, contact the church office at (262) 473-2131.
