Outing to raise money for cancer research

Plans are under way for the fourth annual Chris Schwenn Cancer Foundation golf outing and benefit dinner on Friday, May 16 at Abbey Springs Golf Club.

The entry fee is $90 which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and fish dinner. For a $75 entry fee includes golf, cart and lunch. Those who would like to attend just dinner and the silent auction at the Abbey Resort's West Pavilion beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner is $25.

Established in 2005, the foundation's intent is to honor Chris' life by giving back to the community in which he lived for 37 years. The funds raised will be given to local community members undergoing cancer treatments, the UW Hospital Oncology Department, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Wisconsin for continued cancer research.

Over the last three years, the foundation has raised over $60,000 with the help of generous people. The foundation has been able to donate $10,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research. The foundation has also given $36,000 to nine local resident to help with their battle with cancer.
