Trek founder dies
Richard "Dick" Burke, the founder of bicycle-maker, Trek Bicycle Corp., died Monday.
Burke, 73, died a Milwaukee hospital from complications from heart surgery, said his son, John Burke, the company's president.
Trek has a production plant in Whitewater. In 1976, Richard Burke founded the company in a red barn in Waterloo, Wis., about 30 miles east of Madison.
