What is your business philosophy? When people are empowered to live in harmony with their environment, the underlying causes of disease begins to surface and the appropriate changes can then be made. Healing is often about removing obstacles and supporting the body's innate wisdom. Chinese medicine has many tools to support this journey.
What goals do you have for your company? To provide a space where people can deeply and profoundly heal on every level and to encourage the building of community and traditional food pathways.
Who has been an influential person in your life? My mother is a breast cancer survivor. In addition to getting regular acupuncture she became a champion at doing whatever it took to become a healthy and whole person. I learned so much through her process in how Western and Eastern medicine can work in a beautiful synergy. I learned how to be present with her both as a practitioner and as a son. Most importantly, I learned how love and forgiveness heals.
Do you have a favorite book, author or movie? I have several favorite books and movies that deal with medicine and holistic living. The one I keep coming back to, however, is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. The depth of wisdom it contains in how culinary traditions heal us from the inside out has changed my life.
An interesting fact about your business or yourself. I think that true health and wellness begins in the kitchen. Buying whole foods from local farmers (preferably organic) is the cornerstone of all good medicine. I love experimenting and making fermented foods like sauerkraut and sourdough bread (fermented foods are fabulous for digestion) and sharing home-cooked meals with family and friends.
