Chef shares his secrets at Women's Weekend

A "hands-on" cooking class with critically acclaimed chef Ken Hnilo of Gilbert's Restaurant and a seminar by award-winning author Sheila Glazov highlight the 2008 Lake Geneva Women's Weekend.

The third annual Women's Weekend, Feb 29-March 2, offers a variety of activities and seminars focusing on health and well-being, and offers participants a menu of in-store activities at 10 Lake Geneva area merchants.

Most in-store activities are flexible, allowing visitors the opportunity to enjoy special services at their leisure, while seminars require pre-registration and may be limited to a maximum number of participants.

"The Women's Weekend offers the opportunity to explore a number of activities women might have an interest in, but have never explored," said Karin Bennett, owner of the Cornerstone Shoppe and Artopia Gallery.

"The weekend program covers significant topics including health and fitness issues, as well as lighter activities including complimentary chair massages, foot reflexology and interior decorating demonstrations at downtown merchants.

There's also an opening night cocktail party, a scavenger hunt and a Saturday evening pajama party highlighted by a scrapbooking session. On Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m., Chef Hnilo will preside over a cooking class where guests will create a delicious entrée and dessert in the kitchen of Gilbert's restaurant.

The class, limited to 20 people, will also include a discussion on what you need to know about pairing wines with favorite foods.

The fee for this special class is $22 with all proceeds benefiting the culinary program at Lake Geneva's Badger High School.

Internationally acclaimed professional speaker and award-winning author Sheila Glazov will present her fun and fascinating approach to understanding yourself and others at a seminar at The Cove of Lake Geneva at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Author of What Color is Your Brain? A Fun and Fascinating Approach to Understanding Yourself and Others, Glazov's seminar focuses on self-improvement, conflict resolution, building harmonious relationships and improving job performance.
