Leffingwell receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Whitewater business celebrates 60 years

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Leffingwells Menswear, 141 W. Main, Whitewater, 473-2181, the Whitewater Area Chamber of Commerce awarded Harry Leffingwell the Lifetime Achievement award at their fall banquet.

Leffingwell has been a committed and dedicated chamber member serving on several committees throughout his career for the betterment of the chamber and the community as a whole.

This year's Fall Banquet Dinner with Dracula was an amazing success thanks to the creativity of the Fuzzy Pig, the generosity of sponsors and the good natured spirit of all of the people who made up the fall banquet's record attendance. The generous sponsors for the night included: Commercial Bank, First Citizens State Bank, Fort HealthCare, Johns Disposal Service and Associated Bank.

Other 2006 awards were presented to:

President's Award: David "DLK" Kachel in recognition of the individual who has most exemplified outstanding leadership.

Directors Award: The Chamber committee in recognition of those who have most excelled in accomplishing their goals: 2006 Tourism Council: Carie Wright, director; Kathleen Fleming, Hamilton House; Bridget Bowar, AmeriHost; Travis Jack, Fat Jacks; John Gelletta, Wallcrawlers; Colin Cheever, Bicycle Advocacy; Therese Kennedy, UW-Whitewater; Gene Hackbarth, city of Whitewater; and Gene Benka (in memoriam), bowling/golf.

Community Recognition Award: Toppers Pizza, Inc. in recognition of celebrating a significant milestone in moving to their new location in downtown Whitewater, and receiving Mainstreet designation.

Special Project Recognition Award: RR Walton for restoring the Whitewater Hotel and Mike Ciardo for inspiring the Sister City program offering aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina, for being instrumental in helping on a special project or

Outstanding Business Leader Award: Liz and John Sotherland, BicycleWise, for their work with the Bicycle Advocacy group, and UW-Whitewater wheelchair basketball for speaking with kids about bike safety and wellness, awarded for exhibiting exceptional dedication to the community, respect for the individual, service to customers and commitment to excellence.
