Meeting to address homelessness issues

The Walworth County Continuum of Care will host its Annual Prioritization Meeting for the Prevention of Homelessness from 9-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 12, at the Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services located at W4051 Hwy NN, Elkhorn.

The Walworth County Continuum of Care provides collaborative services to all Walworth County homeless citizens and addresses the issues of homeless individuals and families or those at risk of homelessness

The purpose of the Prioritization Meeting is for area service providers to engage individuals who are currently or formally homeless in focus groups in order to ensure that the continuum is addressing the most pertinent needs of the homeless population.

Service providers are seeking homeless individuals who wish to participate in this process and ti make sure their voices are heard.

Community Action is a 100 percent local, not-for-profit organization, operating a broad spectrum of community programs aimed at preventing and reducing local poverty in Rock and Walworth counties.

It operates the Fresh Start program, offers child care, at-risk youth programming, teen parent support, women's health care, senior benefits counseling, homeownership programs, affordable housing units, home weatherization and rehab, assistance in dealing with a housing crisis, food for area pantries, and shelter for the homeless.
