A man suspected of multiple break-ins in Walworth and Rock counties now also is wanted on bail jumping charges.

Jonathan A. Jeske posted a $1,400 bond the night of Nov. 14 after Clinton police arrested him Nov. 13 on suspicion of credit card fraud and receiving stolen property, according to Rock County Jail records.

Walworth County authorities were unable to have a warrant authorized to get Jeske transferred to Walworth County Jail before he posted bond in Rock County, Fontana Police Chief Steve Olson said. The warrant was issued Nov. 16.

“Everybody’s looking for him around here,” Olson said. “Right now we don’t suspect he’s in Walworth County.”

Jeske, 31, of 2641 Highway 67, Williams Bay, is a suspect in at least five October home invasions in Walworth Township, Fontana and Williams Bay, according to police.

Clinton police believe there is a “very good possibility” three break-ins in the village are related to the Walworth County burglaries, Clinton Chief James Korth told The Janesville Gazette earlier.

Most of the stolen items included personal items, such as purses, wallets and jewelry, according to police.

The warrant issued Nov. 16 charges Jeske with two counts of felony bail jumping. He is accused of violating conditions of bonds from earlier criminal cases, including bribery of a public official and domestic battery and was not to commit any further crimes, according to a criminal complaint.

Police were led to Jeske because he tried to use credit cards reported stolen by a Clinton woman Nov. 9 at Wal-Mart stores in Beloit and Rockton, Ill., according to the complaint.

Using surveillance videotapes from the stores, police identified Jeske exiting a vehicle and attempting to use the cards inside the store. Police later reported finding stolen items from Rock and Walworth county burglaries inside the vehicle, which belonged to a friend, according to the complaint.

Jeske is due in Walworth County Court on Thursday, Dec. 13, for sentencing hearings for the bribery and domestic abuse charges.

The bribery charge stems from allegations that Jeske offered a jail officer money if he could retain work release privileges after returning to the Walworth County Huber Dorm after consuming alcohol on Dec. 23, 2006, according to court records. In May, he pushed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, according to a complaint.

Jeske also has a pending felony drunken driving arrest in Sauk County. A plea hearing is set for Wednesday, Dec. 19, in that case.

Olson said anyone who knows of Jeske’s whereabouts is asked to call their local police or the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department at (262) 741-4400.
