A fire destroyed a barn, but no one was injured in Sharon Township this morning.
A neighbor reported the fire at 6:35 a.m. at W9546 County B, a half mile east of the Walworth County line. Passersby caused some confusion by reporting the fire in the vicinity of County J and Countyline Road.
County J turns into County B as it crosses the line.
No one was in the barn, and the property owners still were asleep when the fire started.
When the Sharon Fire Department arrived, the firefighters focused on keeping the fire from spreading, Chief Mark Ruosch said.
Some hay was burned, but there was no machinery in the barn. No large animals were housed in the barn, although there might have been a few chickens inside, Ruosch said.
Fire departments from Clinton, Sharon, Darien and Walworth responded. Responders put the fire out at 7:45 a.m.
