Elkhorn Area High School players invite everyone to their fall murder/mystery/comedy performance of You Have the Right to Remain Dead, by Pat Cook.
The victim: The narrator.
The suspects: Fat Daddy, a rich but vindictive Southern gentleman; Sweet Mama, Daddy's pandering wife; Hyacinth, the daughter who's always cleaning the family firearms; Earl the worm; his overly amorous wife, Savannah; Clete, the sullen handyman who happens to be in the will; and you.
That's right, you're a suspect too, said Grace Wales, student director.
Officer Bainbridge attempts to find the murderer while dealing with the rest of the eccentric ensemble of actors who are suspects--along with the entire audience, Wales says.
"Plenty of audience participation is involved as Bainbridge tries to find the killer before he or she strikes again," she said. "There are lots of special sound effects and lighting changes that happen throughout the show that really enhance the comedic mood and chaotic air of the show."
This show was chosen in part because audience participation creates lots more fun and surprises for everyone.
"When the audience gets to give their two cents they get more into the show," said Isabella Virrueta (Big Mama).
"It's interesting interacting with the audience during the show instead of just performing," adds Lindsay Swanson (Blanche Latoure).
You Have the Right to Remain Dead, runs Nov. 9-10, 7 p.m. at the Elkhorn Area High School auditorium. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. For tickets or more information, call 723-4920 ex. 1651.
