Grant Priesgen's world has been spinning downhill, but the road back up has now begun.
Months of chemotherapy are over; his brother Karsten's bone marrow was a perfect match; and Grant's surgery was a complete success.
Priesgen, 13, of Twin Lakes, was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) just last May. After so much medical attention, parents Alex and Laurel's medical bills have tallied quite the toll.
So friends have organized a benefit to help the family out knowing that Priesgen will continue to need extra medical care for the rest of his life.
The celebration is Sunday, Nov. 4, 1-6 p.m. at the Lake Como Beach Club House, W3730 Club House Drive, Lake Geneva, where there'll be live music by Confetti, raffles, bingo, kids games and a benefit Italian dinner.
Priesgen is a star-ranked Boy Scout, member of the Genoa City White Sox and active in other sports.
The public is welcome to come for dinner and stay for the fun. The menu includes Italian beef, manicotti, mostacholli, Caesar salad and lots of other favorites. Dinner tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for kids 8-10 and free for kids under 7. Any help is greatly appreciated, from donated raffle items to coming for dinner. For more information, call 249-0931.
