In today’s world, information plays a key role in staying healthy. With that in mind, Aurora Health Care and St. Francis De Sales Church in Lake Geneva are partnering on a free program featuring the latest information on heart health; breast health and technology; exercise and injury; stress; and aromatherapy.
Make plans today to attend the second annual Harvest for Healthy Living, 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Francis De Sales, 148 Main St., Lake Geneva. There will also be door prizes from local businesses. To register, please call (800) 499-5736 or visit www.Aurora.org/Harvest.
Maureen Redmer, registered nurse and parish nurse, said the goal of the program is to bring together health experts in one location. Redmer serves as the parish nurse for St. Francis De Sales. She said the parish’s Wellness Committee, which highlights the importance of health and wellness among the congregation, played an integral role in putting the program together.
“Our committee is an awesome group,” she said in a news release. “We’re pleased to be able to once again present this program,’’ she said. “There is so much health-related information out there it’s sometimes overwhelming. These health-care professionals know the latest trends. It should be an informative and interesting session.’’
Speakers and topics include:
n Dr. Stephen Welka, cardiologist: Heart health for men and women
n Dr. John Britt, orthopedics: Exercise and injury
n Diane Ames, nurse practitioner: Health and healing through aromatherapy and essential oils
n Susanne Malestic, registered nurse: Stress and human spirituality
n Sue Kandler, registered nurse: Breast health and the latest in breast technology
n Meagan McCarville, Exercise and stress
The program is free and open to the public. Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health-care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers services at sites in 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
