Company’s product or service: Seller of quality supplies for dogs and cats, pet dog training and dog grooming. We offer personalized service and are committed to educating people about the proper care, training and feeding of their pets. As members of our families our pets deserve the same level of care we give ourselves and I believe that is accomplished through diet and lifestyle.

How long has your company been in business? Twenty years total, 12 under my ownership.

What is your business philosophy? In an age of chain and big box stores we think personalized attention is No 1. We back up 100 percent what we sell and the services we provide.

Who has been an influential person in your life? My parents, who just celebrated 50 years of marriage, taught me and my siblings discipline, values and a work ethic that has made it possible for me to be successful in business and, I think, in life.

Do you have a favorite book or author? I read non-fiction for the most part. I will read anything related to animal and human health and nutrition and I also love cookbooks. Joseph Merola, M.D., Andrew Weil, M.D. and Patricia McConnell, Ph.D. are favorites because they are pioneers in their fields.

What are some jobs that you’ve done in the past? Worked in the thoroughbred racehorse industry in Illinois as a new grad from southern Illinois; worked at a mixed animal veterinary hospital; several horse farms; and also have pet-sat for many, many dogs and cats.

Spouse/significant other’s name: Craig

An interesting fact about your business or yourself: People don’t know that I learned grooming on the job as the new owner of this business 12 years ago. Also, I know the names and faces of the majority of my clients and their pets. Many have been clients for a decade or more. I hope to preserve that intimacy and individual attention along with providing the best quality merchandise and services
