The Walworth County Health and Human Services Department is taking Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program applications by appointment in six communities over a seven-month period.
To make an appointment, call the department at (262) 741-3337. You will be sent an application for energy assistance. Assistance is intended for lower-income households.
On your appointment date, bring proof of all Social Security numbers in your household, proof of the previous three months income and current copies of electric and heating bills.
Only one check is issued per household for the heating season, which is considered Oct. 1 through May 15, 2008.
Appointment locations and dates include:
n Delavan: Community Action, 1545 Hobbs Drive. 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 28; Dec. 12 and 26; Jan 9 and 23; Feb. 13 and 27; March 12 and 26; April 9 and 23; May 14.
n East Troy: Village Hall, 2106 Church St. 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month from November through May.
n Genoa city: Village Hall, 715 Walworth St. 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the last Monday of the month from October through April, except December. That month's appointment date is Wednesday, Dec. 19.
n Lake Geneva/Como: Geneva Town Hall, N3496 Como Road. 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month from November through May.
n Sharon: Village Hall and Community Center, 125 Plain St. 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Nov. 20, Jan. 15, March 18 and April 15.
n Whitewater: Irving Young Memorial Library, 431 W. Center St. 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 19; Dec. 3 and 17; Jan. 7 and 21; Feb. 4 and 19; March 3 and 17; April 7 and 21; May 5.
