In the ultimate 'I can't wait for the winter' statement, snowboarders and skiers will converge upon The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa for the Inaugural "Rail Jam" on Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon-6 p.m.

The event will feature plenty of high flying winter action, but minus the presence of snow, with competitors instead strutting their stuff on a combination of wet grass and carpeting that will be laid upon the Mountain Top course.

Co-sponsored by the Board Shop in downtown Lake Geneva, The Tricks or Treats Rail Jam will feature snowboarders and skiers competing in various classes based on skill level, including beginner, intermediate and advanced categories.

The Rail Jam is a good opportunity to promote promising talent our area offers, but it is also a chance for anyone who has an interest in learning a few mountain tricks the chance to come out and spend time with others who have that same interest," Hans Hauschild, director of the 18-run, three-chair lift Mountain Top facility was quoted as saying in a news release.

"It's also an opportunity to introduce people to our AAA Four Diamond resort and the great ski and snowboard facility we feature during the winter months."

Scheduled to open its winter season on Dec. 8, The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva offers 18 challenging ski slopes, a vertical drop of 211 feet, elevations up to 1,086 feet and runs up to one-quarter mile long.

Snowboarders can tackle a specially designed half-pipe and snowboarder Fun Park while beginners can enjoy two non-intimidating practices hills, both with Wonder Carpet technology that provides an easy trip to the top of a short, gentle-sloping hill.

In addition, Grand Geneva's annual Equipment Swap will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 1-4 p.m.
