Egg Harbor Café, the family-owned and operated gourmet breakfast and lunch restaurants based in Lincolnshire, Ill., has signed a lease with Keefe Realty to open in the Newport West shopping center in downtown Lake Geneva in the spring of 2008.

After 22 years of serving 12 of Chicago's most upscale suburbs, Egg Harbor Cafe is thrilled to be coming to Lake Geneva. Newport West, best known for Pot Belly's, Nine West Shoes, Caribou Coffee and soon-to-be neighbor Cold Stone Ice Creamery, will now have another upscale quality neighbor.

When first contacted about the possibility of Egg Harbor coming to Newport West, Mike Keefe had never heard of Egg Harbor Cafes, according to a news release.

But once he started to ask around the Lake Geneva residents and visitors to see if there was a demand for an Egg Harbor in Lake Geneva, he was quoted as saying, "Lake Geneva residents and visitors are already Egg Harbor customers. Many of them have homes or businesses in the Chicago suburbs that Egg Harbor already serves."

The news release noted that Egg Harbor Cafes are blessed with such a devoted following of regular guests, that it just makes sense to extend their great food, service and atmosphere to Lake Geneva, where their regulars like to live, vacation and visit.

Veteran manager Keith Kroll, who currently manages the Egg Harbor Cafe in Arlington Heights, is currently putting together a Lake Geneva team to ensure a seamless spring opening.

Current plans are for 30 tables inside, with another eight tables in a quaint screened porch.

Egg Harbor is known for its extensive and creative breakfast menu, exclusively serving Phil's cage-free eggs and Intelligencia Coffee.
