Unable to Visit Yerkes Observatory on a Saturday?
Yerkes Observatory Now Offering Weekday Programs
(Published August 29, 2006, 11:08 a.m.)
Have you wanted to attend one of the free Yerkes Observatory Saturday
programs but were unable to? During the months of September and October
you may take 45-minute tours on any Tuesday or Thursday, beginning at
10 a.m., 11 a.m., or Noon.
Richard Dreiser, Yerkes Observatory tour guide, will briefly discuss
the curious Greco-Roman architecture, provide a brief history, and take
visitors inside the 90-foot diameter dome to look at the 40-inch refractor,
the largest lens-type telescope in the world.
The charge per pair of adults is $25. There is no charge for kids 12
years old or younger accompanied by a paying adult. We do not take
reservations; just show up at the front door at the appropriate time.
If you prefer to visit at some other time and date, or, if there are
15 or more in your group, please make arrangements with Richard
Dreiser at (262) 245-5555, extension 832.
Throughout the year, Yerkes Observatory offers free Saturday programs
beginning at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and Noon. Note we will NOT be giving
programs on Saturday December 23.
