If you're looking for great food and entertainment for the entire family, Bobby Rockets Restaurant and Night Club, 6291 Hospital Road, Lyons, 757-0000, www.bobbyrocketsbar.com, is the place to be, just eight minutes from Lake Geneva and Burlington.
This summer marks Bobby Rockets' second anniversary and they're going strong and thriving in Walworth County.
"We are very pleased and grateful that our customers have responded very positively to our business," said Bob Flores, owner.
The first thing you'll notice upon entering Bobby Rockets' are the hand-painted, larger-than-life murals reflecting their love of music and sports.
Designated smoking and non-smoking areas surround a sports mural of Walter Payton receiving a handoff from Brett Favre; a music mural captures Frank Sinatra, BB King, Keith Richards, Elton John and Jimi Hendrix playing together in concert; a fireplace; a waterfall; and a wall of windows with a gorgeous Wisconsin view.
"When it comes to entertainment I feel that we have raised the bar in this area," Flores said.
"We have brought in local, regional and, on occasion, national bands for our customers to enjoy. From time to time you may even run into a celebrity or two."
Televisions throughout the bar and restaurant include a mega screen in the center of the club, visible from every seat so customers don't miss a beat during their favorite sports broadcast.
Wednesday and Fridays are DJ nights. Thursdays are in-house pool tournaments beginning 8 p.m. and open to everyone.
Friday and Saturday evenings bring Nino the Magician who entertains with tableside magic shows.
"If you haven't had an opportunity, it's a must see for the whole family," Flores says.
Saturday evenings feature the best in local and regional entertainment.
And Sundays finish off the weekend with open jams with Michael Coleman, 3-8 p.m. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instrument and sit in with this internationally acclaimed blues musician.
While Bobby Rockets is happy to be known for their live entertainment, they have also experienced significant growth in their restaurant operations.
All menu items are fresh and made to order and feature classic favorites and signature dinner and lunch entrees. Daily menu favorites include Italian beef, Angus certified burgers, wraps and homemade pizzas, soups and salads. Even the sides are over-the-top-and the sweet potato French fries are out of this world.
The restaurant is kid-friendly with video games to keep them entertained, especially during tableside magic on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Tuesdays are buy one pizza get a second at half price. Thursdays are Burger Mania days with $2 quarter-pound burgers all day.
Weekends bring a traditional Friday fish fry, all you can eat from $7.95; Saturday's Angus prime rib and baby back barbecue ribs from $9.95. And if it's not on the menu, ask your waitperson for a special order-if they have it, they'll make it.
A second-floor VIP room is available for private parties with a private bar and one of the best views in Walworth County.
The kitchen is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Mondays 4-10 p.m.
