Get a hands-on look at the job of law enforcement officers at the Walworth County Sheriff's Citizen Police Academy.
The academy will teach citizens how to better protect themselves and will provide insight into the nature of law enforcement.
Participants will receive 30 hours of comprehensive instruction, covering the policies and procedures of the department, crime prevention, criminal investigations, defensive tactics, firearms training, drug recognition, accident investigation and patrol operations.
The free course starts Sept. 5 and continues every Wednesday for 10 weeks. Classes are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center, 1770 County NN, Elkhorn.
