The Cornerstone Shoppe, 240 Broad St., Lake Geneva, 248-6988, www.cornerstoneshoppe.com, a premier home-decorating store in Lake Geneva since 1988, was purchased by entrepreneurial retailers who founded nearby Artopia Shop & Gallery.
Bruce and Karin Bennett, who established Artopia, a unique artisan boutique in Lake Geneva in 2003, purchased the Cornerstone Shoppe and will blend together the offerings of the two stores into the current 8,500-square-foot Cornerstone location. The store will retain its name and remain at 240 Broad Street in downtown Lake Geneva.
"When you start a business like Artopia as we did in 2003, you work toward growing and expanding a dream," Bennett said in a news release. "Our acquisition of the Cornerstone Shoppe and blending together these two successful retail operations is the realization of that dream."
The Bennetts live in Kildeer, Ill. The store draws customers from a wide geographic area, from Chicago and its surrounding suburbs to many parts of Wisconsin.
The combination of the Cornerstone Shoppe and Artopia provides shoppers with an extensive product line from upscale home furnishings to unique artwork creations for home decorating. It also offers interior design services for those who want customized assistance in their homes.
The store is widely recognized for its passion in merchandise selection, display presentation and a team dedicated to personal service. With more than 8,500 square feet of wood furniture, area rugs, lamps, shelves and mirrors, it is a key destination for people looking to redecorate or refurnish their homes.
The Cornerstone also carries a well-stocked Lang Center, plus an extensive selection of home accessories, candles, baby items, paper goods, picture frames, dishes, linen and bedding. There also is a bridal/gift registry.
