UW-Whitewater alum Richard A. Meeusen will address more than 1,400 students at commencement ceremonies planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19 in the DLK/Kachel Fieldhouse.
Meeusen '76, received a bachelor's degree from the UW-Whitewater. He is the CEO, president and chairman of Badger Meter, Inc., one of the world's leading water-meter manufacturers, and the only one in the nation independently American-owned.
In addition to Badger Meter, Meeusen serves on the boards of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., the Milwaukee County Council Boy Scouts of America, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and the Milwaukee YMCA, where he volunteers his time.
Sara Mertz of Hilbert, will be the student speaker. She will graduate summa cum laude with a degree in finance and accounting from the college of business and economics.
All together 1,419 undergraduates will receive degrees--200 in arts and communication; 422 in business and economics; 228 in education; and 393 in letters and sciences.
A total of 176 master's degree candidates will also be recognized. UW-Whitewater has an enrollment of 10, 502 students.
