The Abbey Resort and Spa in Fontana has new owners after Anvan Corp., sold the Geneva Lake landmark to a new group called Abbey Provident Venture, LLC. The new group includes Chicago-based Oxford Capital Group, LLC.
The Abbey will be under the management of Hostmark Hospitality Group, said Brian Tkac, vice president of marketing for Hostmark. Tkac said there will be no changes in staffing and the change in ownership will be invisible to guests.
The Abbey recently underwent a $40 million renovation and looks to further establish itself as the premier leisure and business destination of the Midwest.
Virtually every corner of property has undergone careful and well-crafted refurbishment in the past two years, from the 334 guestrooms and suites to the more than 40,000 square feet of meeting and event facilities.
The renovation was the recipient of the 2006 Build Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin in recognition as the "best redevelopment of a commercial property."
Hostmark Hospitality Group-appointed by the new owners as the property's management company-is an experienced operator in the area. Hostmark has a successful history of resort management including properties such as Harrison Hot Springs Resort in British Columbia, the Aspen Club Lodge and Montauk Yacht Club as well as other Lake Geneva-area resorts including properties such as Lake Lawn Resort and Bella Vista.
"The Abbey Resort has been a cornerstone of the Lake Geneva tradition for more than 40 years," Bob Cataldo, President and COO of Hostmark Hospitality Group was quoted as saying in a news release, "and Hostmark is very excited about the opportunity to bring our hands-on management approach to the only full-service resort on the shores of Lake Geneva."
The company formerly managed Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan and the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Madison.
