Train pushes car off road near Allens Grove

A Janesville woman's car was pushed 20 feet off the road by a slow-moving train when she failed to stop for it on North Road in Allens Grove.

Patricia A. Inglett, 60, of 3812 Sandhill Drive, was shaken up but uninjured, said Sgt. Bill Melloch. Her car sustained minor front-end damage.

The northbound Inglett "short stopped" a stop sign and barely tapped the westbound Wisconsin Southern train, which was backing up, Melloch said.

There was no damage to the train although it did block the rural country road for some time when police were at the scene, Melloch said. It was moved out of the way and continued on once police and the conductor, 36-year-old Darby C. Destromp, determined it was safe.

Inglett, who was alone in her Buick Regal, was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.
