Sonoma Cellars will team up with the Delavan Rotary Gardens and Lake Lawn Resort for their annual wine festival. The festival has been a great success and those involved are looking to continue the trend this year. The festival will take place on Sunday, March 25, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at Lake Lawn Resort in the Geneva Ballroom. The goal is to help the Rotary Gardens flourish and to preserve this hidden treasure of Walworth County.
The Wine and Beer Festival will offer a selection of beverages from around the globe. With 10 tables of wine and three tables of beer, you're sure to find all your favorites here including wines from California, Australia, France, Germany, Italy and many more.
Tickets for the event are available at Sonoma Cellars or through Rotary Gardens members. The cost per ticket is $20, which includes a wine glass commemorating the event. All ticket sales will be donated to the Rotary Gardens. Sonoma Cellars will again donate 10 percent of all the wine sales to the gardens. Other sponsors for the festival include Panera Bread, Culver's, Walworth State Bank, Delavan Community Bank, Barker Hardware and Swift Print.
The Delavan Rotary Gardens are a part of Congdon Park, located at the intersection of Geneva Street and Interstate 43. The Rotary Gardens are just part of this 29.6-acre park. Future plans include an expansion called the "Flag Garden," scheduled for completion in 2007-2008. The addition features sustainable plant communities with regionally native plants being the focus.
Hoping to continue nurturing its vision, the gardens ask for donations of time, talent or financial support to move forward with their quest. Special events scheduled for 2007 include Jammin' in the Gardens and Art Festival on July 7, Volunteer Luncheon and Flag Garden Groundbreaking.
