LBA Home show open Saturday and Sunday

One of the highlights each year of the Lakeland Builders Association New Home and Remodeling Expo are the seminars.
The wide range of topics give home owners practical information on nearly any home project.

Seminars take place both days of the expo.
In addition to the seminars, attractions this will include Stockwood, who bills themselves as the "World's Youngest Beatles Tribute Band."
Sing along with DJ/Karaoke courtesy of Nelson Pools & Spas as well as Megan Stern, bagpipe player from The Bravest & Finest Memorial Bagpipe Band.
LBA is again sponsoring The Young Tradesmen of Walworth County student building contest.
Judging on Saturday and all entries will be on display throughout the Expo.
The expo will also feature "The Ultimate Backyard".
This separate indoor area will have interactive features, furniture ideas, music and much more. Live radio broadcasts on Saturday plus many more exciting events will make this a great weekend activity for the whole family.
Expo 2007 will be at the Elkhorn Area High School on Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, March 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Admission is $3 Children under 16 are free. Admission is free for seniors on Sunday. Bring two non-perishable food items will receive $1 off the ticket price.

Saturday, March 17

10:30 a.m., Faux Finishing Clinic - You Can Do It with Laila Vandais, Sherwin Williams
A demonstration of a various faux painting finishes and how to do them. Attendees will be able to try out different finishes on sample boards. Laila Vandais will also be talking about using color in your home.

11:30 a.m., New Windows/Replacement Windows with Jean Kruzan of Kruzan Construction

12:30 p.m., Finish Your Room with Window Treatments with Nancy Arendarczyk, Geneva Lakes Home Furnishings & Interior Decorating
Nancy Arendarczyk has been sewing and installing custom window treatments for clients of Geneva Lakes Home Furnishings & Interior Decorating.
Using before and after window samples, Arendarczyk will show how window treatments can finish a room. Arendarczyk will also talk about custom bedding and explain how to measure windows for window treatments. Additionally, fabric types, trim and trends will be discussed.

1:30 p.m., Planning For Your New Kitchen-Product Selection Decisions with Gary Stebnitz, Kustom Kitchen Designs, LTD
There are so many products and details that need to be explored in planning for a new kitchen. The seminar will focus on a number of these details and explain how home owners can decide if the product fits their style and taste.
Stebnitz started building his knowledge of the construction industry while working for his dad during the late 60s and early 70s while in high school and college.
In 1988, they purchased a countertop manufacturing business, named it Kustom Kitchen Designs, Ltd. and developed this business into a full line custom cabinet and countertop shop with annual sales in 2004 of $1,100,000.
In 2004, Stebnitz sold his interest in the remodeling business to his brothers and took over full ownership of the cabinet business as part of his buyout.

2:30 p.m., Floral Design with Cindy Bilello, Geneva Lakes Home Furnishings & Interior Decorating
Bilello has been making fresh and silk floral arrangements for 20 years. She will demonstrate how to make a floral arrangement with faux water, how to make a floral arrangement with greens-both with a pot and without.
She will also demonstrate how to bring interest to a simple centerpiece with florals, as well as the care of florals, their size and color of arrangements.

12:30 p.m., Reverse Mortgages with Mike Odden, M&I Bank
Odden will provide an overview of the reverse mortgage program. Find out how those over the age of 62 can utilize their home equity to achieve financial piece of mind. Mike Odden has over 24 years of mortgage lending experience, and currently oversees the Reverse Mortgage program at M&I Bank.
1:30 p.m., Protecting the Air You Breath with Keith Nissen, Master Plumbers, Inc.
Nissen will explain the three danger levels in a home and how to eliminate them. He will also cover how a person's immune system works and how, through indoor air quality products, your immune system gains the strength needed to fight incoming pollutants.
2:30 p.m., Helpful hints for lighting your home & Future Trends in Lighting with George Kroupa, Caravelle Lighting, Inc.
Building or remodeling is no easy task. Kroupa will explain how to make the project easy and fun, instead of the usual stress and frustration.
Helpful insights that will make homeowners feel in control and like an experts themselves.
Learn what's hot and what's not with upcoming technology in lighting that will blow you away. Kroupa has over 30 years lighting experience and is the lighting expert in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin
3:30 p.m., Landscaping with Laura Voss, Prairie Tree Landscaping
Landscape elements play an important role in the atmosphere created around the home.
It's not just about planting a few shrubs across the front foundation anymore.
Great landscaping looks like part of the home and reflect the style of the house. This doesn't have to be difficult or expensive, but does require some thought and planning. This seminar will go over techniques to enhance a home's curb appeal using landscaping and show you where to get started.
