The Sears Authorized Dealer store at 308 S. Wright St. in Delavan will hold a grand opening on March 3 as a way of welcoming customers throughout the area.

Owned by Chuck Platts, the Delavan store opened last November in the Pic 'n' Save shopping center offering a wide variety of appliances, grills, lawn tractors, mowers, snow throwers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, pressure washers, generators and maintenance items and parts for lawn tractors.

"These stores are designed to feature Sears' best-selling items," Platts said. "And in addition to what we have in stock, we can get everything for you that offers."

The grand opening will feature several sales and promotions to benefit customers.

"It's kind of an exciting time for us," said Platts. "We'll be offering a 10 percent storewide discount on top of all the sale prices. And we'll have a number of nice gifts to give away."

Some of the gifts include a tool chest, a $100 shopping spree, a 27-inch color TV and an upright vacuum. Special sales promotions include 0 per cent financing for 12 months and free delivery with a 10 per cent discount rebate on all appliances over $399. In addition to these sales promotions, customers on that day will also receive the 10 percent storewide discount on top of the already-discounted items.

Platts, who also has owned a Sears Authorized Dealer store in Lake Geneva for 36 years, said his stores are all about buying locally and giving excellent customer service.

"We have a bilingual staff with Carlos Campos, our sales rep here in Delavan," said Platts. "We want to be able to serve the Hispanic population as well."

Campos, who has been working at the store since it opened, said he believes such local shopping opportunities are important for smaller towns.

"It's a great opportunity to be able to stay shopping locally," he said. "And also, if the customer has any kind of problem with an item, they can have it handled locally without driving to Janesville or Kenosha. It just comes down to better customer service."

The grand opening will be highlighted by a radio remote broadcast on Saturday morning, Platts said.

"We're looking forward to welcoming the Delavan community to our store and becoming a part of the business community here," he said.
