Cindy Knutson-Lycholat, CGR, CAPS, CR owner of Knutson Bros. II, W792 Potters Circle, East Troy, 642-5211, was recently awarded the prestigious Remodeler of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for her years of dedication to the remodeling industry.
According to Therese Crahan, executive director at NAHB, one award is given out each year by their organization, and the NAHB was proud to award Knutson-Lycholat this prestigious award for 2006.
"The applicant is judged on many things, including business acumen, business longevity, service to the industry, community involvement and customer satisfaction," said Crahan in a news release. "You must be spectacular to get the award."
Knutson-Lycholat received the award at an award ceremony during the 2006 Remodeling Show in Chicago, Ill.
"Our entire company is honored to receive this award," said Knutson-Lycholat. "One of our personal goals is to raise the level of professionalism in the remodeling industry to help dispel the perception that remodelers must be viewed with caution. This award recognizes that we have made progress towards this goal."
According to Bob Gibson of Verhalen, Inc., a vendor that Knutson Bros. II has worked with for many years, it is no surprise that Knutson-Lycholat was awarded this prestigious national award.
"Being able to understand the customer really sets Knutson Bros. (II) apart from others," says Gibson. "They are different than other design/build remodelers because of their professional, non-intimidating approach with vendors and customers. They really eliminate the stress and fear of remodeling because they lay out a plan and they stick to it every time."
Ann Pienkos, executive officer for Lakeland Builders, agrees that Knutson-Lycholat deserves the award, and says Cindy has really helped to make a difference in the remodeling industry locally, statewide and nationally.
"Cindy is known for continuing her father's legacy, but she is also known for branching out and being an innovator," said Pienkos. "Through her involvement locally, statewide and nationally, Cindy has brought what she has learned to her customers, her peers and even students in the area."
According to Pienkos, Knutson-Lycholat and her husband Gerry Lycholat are continually on top of what's new in the remodeling industry and want to share those ideas with their customers and peers.
In addition to National Remodeler of the Year, Knutson-Lycholat was recognized in July 2006 by Qualified Remodeler magazine as one of the 10 women leaders who have had an impact on the remodeling industry. Knutson-Lycholat is a strong proponent of education and building up the next generation of professional trades people. She demonstrates her commitment through her involvement in starting a NAHB student chapter, initiative in funding and developing a high school "building trades" academy, approval to teach five NAHB university housing courses and her assistance in writing three of the initial CGR courses.
