Aurora Pharmacy is ringing in the new year with free next-day home delivery for its customers.
"We wanted to make it as easy as possible for our patients to get their prescriptions when they need them," said John Gates, RPh, director of pharmacy operations in a news release. "It should be a great help not only to people who aren't able to drive, but to customers who have difficulty fitting an additional errand into their busy lifestyles. We always are looking for better ways of meeting our customers' needs."
In addition to free home delivery, Aurora Pharmacy customers can order refills of their prescriptions through an automated telephone system or online via a secure Aurora Health Care site.
"We want to give our patients options when ordering refills--by phone, in person or online," Gates said. "Our goal is to accommodate our customers' individual needs, no matter how varied they are."
To order refills online, patients must register before ordering and should have a current prescription number handy as part of the registration. They can log on to www.aurorahealthcare.org/myaurora/request/pdx/help.asp or simply go to www.aurorahealthcare.org and, under the Services tab, click on Aurora Pharmacy, then click on "refills online" on the left side of the page. Refills take about 24 hours.
Customers must have refills remaining on their prescription to order them online. If the prescription has no more refills available, or if a new prescription is needed, patients can ask their pharmacist to call their physician. Prescription transfer from any Aurora Pharmacy can be done via the Web.
