Workshops geared to first-time home buyers

Workshops scheduled throughout the year

Community Action, Inc. along with Wells Fargo is hosting the Home Buyer's Workshop, a free workshop to help first time-home buyers. The workshop is designed to help Walworth County families become educated homeowners.

The Home Buyer's Workshop covers information regarding mortgages such as types of mortgages and mortgage readiness and affordability. The seminars will also cover household budgeting, finding a quality home, writing an offer and negotiating the best price possible.

The 2007 workshop schedule has multiple seminars.

- Session I is Mondays, February 12, 19, 26 and March 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., register by Feb. 5.

- Session II is Mondays, April 16, 23, 30 and May 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., register by April 9.

- Session III is Thursdays, July 19, 26 and August 2, 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., register by July 10.

- Session IV is Saturdays, October 20 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., register by October 12. To register please call (262) 728-8596.

Community Action is a 100 percent local, not-for-profit organization, operating a broad spectrum of community programs aimed at preventing and reducing local poverty in Rock and Walworth counties. It operates the Fresh Start program, offers child care, at-risk youth programming, teen parent support, women's health care, senior benefits counseling, homeownership programs, affordable housing units, home weatherization and rehab, assistance in dealing with a housing crisis, food for area pantries and shelter for the homeless.
