Sweet & Maier, S.C., 114 N. Church St., Elkhorn, 723-5480, is pleased to announce that both of the firm's principals, Lowell E. Sweet and John L. Maier, Jr., have been named Wisconsin Super Lawyers for 2006.

The Super Lawyers list represents the top 5 percent of attorneys in each state.

The annual guide to Wisconsin Super Lawyers, published by Law & Politics, is included in a special supplement to the December issue of the Milwaukee Magazine. Law & Politics conducted a survey of practicing attorneys throughout the state and also carried out independent research to determine nominees. Nominees were then awarded points based on the research findings. Attorneys with the highest point value were named to the top 100 list. Each candidate's standing is then reviewed with licensing authorities, and the candidate may never have been the subject of disciplinary or criminal proceedings.

In addition to their legal talents, factors considered in evaluating and awarding points to individual candidates include: honors and awards, community service, level of experience, bar and other professional activities, the types of transactions the candidate has been involved in and their standing within the Wisconsin legal community according to the views of their peers.

Sweet has practiced law in Elkhorn for over 50 years, and Maier follows, having practiced here for over 30 years. Together with their associate attorneys, Nick Egert and Stacy Feldbruegge, they continue to operate under the banner Sweet & Maier, S.C..

"John and I are both honored and humbled to have received this statewide recognition," Sweet said in a news release. "Every day we just come to the office with the goal of helping our clients achieve their dreams."

Sweet & Maier, S.C., provides legal services throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois, and prides itself on small-town personal service, coupled with the technical expertise developed over years of practice. The firm maintains a Web site at www.wisclaw.com.
