Exploring the history of Walworth and Big Foot Prairie

Appraisals available at meeting Jan. 24

People will have an opportunity to share their stories and memorabilia about the Walworth area as the featured program at the next meeting of the Historical Society of Walworth and Big Foot Prairie.

The meeting is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24 in the Village Commons Room in the lower level of Golden Years Retirement Village along Ridge Road on the east side of Walworth. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Membership is not required.

Members, friends and area residents are requested to bring items to show and/or family stories to tell. The items may be antiques, photos, books, family Bibles, old tools, letters, postcards, old clothing or family treasures.

In addition, several antique appraisal books will be available. Attendees will be able to find out what their family treasures are worth.

Prior to the program, the society will conduct its annual meeting. It will be highlighted by a review of 2006 activities.

With the new year, membership dues are due and may be sent to the historical society at P.O. Box 336, Walworth, WI 53184. The types of membership and dues are: student, $6; senior, $8; individual, $10; family, $20; business, $40; and patron, $100.
