The Comets pulled off an upset of top-seeded and No. 10-rated Wilmot, 6-0, in a WIAA Division 1 regional final game Friday.

Meanwhile, Badger shut out Elkhorn 3-0 to set up a showdown with their in-county rival.

Delavan-Darien (11-9) rode the pitching of senior Jeremiah Samuelson to earn a Racine Horlick sectional semifinal game berth against Lake Geneva Badger at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Comets take a five-game winning streak into that game.

Samuelson pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing just six hits with nine strikeouts.

The Comets scored three runs the third and three in the seventh, getting key hits in each inning. Joe Kieman had a two-run single in the third. Ben Lodahl had a two-run double in the seventh.

Badger senior right-hander Jorge Marquez shut down Elkhorn on a one-hitter to give Lake Geneva Badger a Division 1 regional and berth in the Racine Horlick Sectional.

The Badgers face Delavan-Darien at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the semfinals of the one-day sectional.

The winner will face either Burlington or Kenosha Bradford at 4 p.m., with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

Eric Bierman's third-inning single to right field was Elkhorn’s only hit off Marquez.

Badger collected six hits and got the all the scoring it needed in a two-run first inning. Jordan Christner and Clint Andresen each had RBI singles.

Thomas Larwa tripled in the fourth and scored on Keith Trovillion's sacrifice fly.
