Basketball teams crash the top ten

Walworth County high school basketball is slowly making its mark around the state, and with the release of the latest rankings, teams won't be able to fly under the radar much longer.

Three Walworth County high school basketball teams are in state Associated Press top 10 this week.

The East Troy boys remained at No. 4 in the Division 2 poll with a 12-1 record.

The undefeated Delavan-Darien girls, 8-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 12-0 overall, moved up two spots in the Division 2 poll to No. 7.

The Williams Bay boys made their first appearance in the Division 4 poll at No. 10. The Bulldogs are 12-1 for the season and 8-0 in conference play.

East Troy holds the top spot in the Southern Lakes Conference with a two-game lead over Elkhorn. The Trojans travel to Elkhorn Tuesday in a game that could shake up the top of the league standings.

Delavan-Darien features Southern Lakes scoring leader Kelly Supernaw, a senior averaging 17.5 points per game.

The Comets hold a one-game Southern Lakes Conference lead over Whitewater.

They're scheduled to travel to East Troy Friday, but the showdown with Whitewater won't come until Feb. 7 when the Whippets travel to Delavan-Darien High School

The Williams Bay Bulldogs, undefeated in Trailways-South Conference Play were scheduled to travel to second place Deerfield Friday. They return home Tuesday to host Abundant Life.
