Shutouts set up showdown between Badger and Delavan-Darien

Delavan-Darien High's baseball team is getting hot at just the right time.

Meanwhile, Badger shut out Elkhorn 3-0 to set up a showdown with their in-county rival.
Delavan-Darien (11-9) rode the pitching of senior Jeremiah Samuelson to earn a Racine Horlick sectional semifinal game berth against Lake Geneva Badger at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Comets take a five-game winning streak into that game.
Samuelson pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing just six hits with nine strikeouts.
The Comets scored three runs the third and three in the seventh, getting key hits in each inning. Joe Kieman had a two-run single in the third. Ben Lodahl had a two-run double in the seventh.
Badger senior right-hander Jorge Marquez shut down Elkhorn on a one-hitter to give Lake Geneva Badger a Division 1 regional and berth in the Racine Horlick Sectional.
The Badgers face Delavan-Darien at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the semfinals of the one-day sectional.
The winner will face either Burlington or Kenosha Bradford at 4 p.m., with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
Eric Bierman's third-inning single to right field was Elkhorn’s only hit off Marquez.
Badger collected six hits and got the all the scoring it needed in a two-run first inning. Jordan Christner and Clint Andresen each had RBI singles.
Thomas Larwa tripled in the fourth and scored on Keith Trovillion's sacrifice fly.
Division 2
No. 1 East Troy defeated Jefferson 8-1 Wednesday to advance to Tuesday's Chilton sectional. The Trojans face Racine Lutheran/Prairie School at 1 p.m.
The winner will face either Winnabago Lutheran or Waupon at 3:45, with the winner advancing to next week's state tournament.
