Former Lyons fire chief accused of theft

Craig A. Amann, 34, the former Lyons Township fire chief, is accused of using the fire department's credit card to buy gas for his personal vehicle.

He pleaded not guilty last week.

According to the criminal complaint, the town's treasurer was reviewing bills and discovered an $80 gas purchase June 12 without the fire department’s approval.

Anonymous said...: Like you never accidentally pulled out the wrong credit card & used it? Come on! I have pulled out & used my business credit card for groceries by mistake & used my personal credit card to fill up my work truck. Talking with others I found that all kinds of people have made that mistake!
The problem is - someone just wants to ruin this guys life whether he is here or in AZ.
Here is a guy who dedicated many years of his life to his community saving property & lives and someone who didn't agree with him has to get even. Give me a break! NO! Make that GIVE HIM A BREAK! Let him and his families start a new life in AZ and just chalk this $80.00 up to a retirement gift. I didn't really get to know this guy personally but every time I did meet him he was very hospitable.
