The legend of the Beast of Bray Road continues to grow after 15
So what is it that area residents claim to have seen lurking in the dark of night near Elkhorn?
It has been 15 years since The Week published the first story about this mysterious creature, and the answer is the same. Know one really knows.
Most people first heard about the Beast when writer and artist Linda Godfrey, a staff writer for The Week at the time, first interviewed witnesses for a story in the Dec. 29, 1991 issue of The Week.

The first week of October,2006, about 6 in the evening, the "Beast of Bray, or "werewolf" ran in front of our car. We were going straight north, up Stone School Road, East Troy to Mukwonago. Highway L intersects with Stone School Road, and at the top of the first hill, about 1/4 of a mile off L, this "werewolf" ran in front of our car. There were 4 of us in the car. One a teacher, another a postal manager, and us. This "werewolf", was approximately 7 feet tall, all covered with dark brown hair, and ran on two feet in front of us. Shocked is the word. After we came back from Mukwonago, we were going to get some produce from our hangar, but the teacher, wouldn't leave the house when we got in, to frightened. Needless to say, some people we told, didn't believe this. But believe me, when something looks like a wolf, is so hairy, about 7 ft tall and runs on it's two feet, we couldn't make up this. Four adults saw it and we haven't been able to forget it. Takes care of walking at night here.
When I was going to Gateway Technical College studying for my Police Science degree(2003),one of our classes was assigned to do clean-up on Bray Road right off of county NN. While walking down the side of the road, picking up garbage, we noticed a smell coming from the woods close to us. The smell was of rotting flesh. Needless to say that brought up the subject of the Beast of Bray Road, which I had never heard of until that point. So, I being 42 and the other girls being all of 19-22, started scaring them saying maybe the beast had killed something, and thats what the smell was from the woods. They asked me to stop so I did. Upon walking further up the road, we came to a pile of dead fish that looked partially eaten. It was a pretty large pile, maybe 3 foot wide by 1 foot high. That in itself was a little spooky considering if it was a fisherman who got rid of it, it would have probably just been the heads. We all stood there looking at each other like yeah right. The silence was so thick you could hear a pin drop. At this point we started feeling a little uncomfortable in the surroundings,considering the area where we were was wooded on both sides of the road. We decided to go back the cars and high-tail it out of there. Of course no one back at the school believed the story, but it definately gave this skeptical mind a few things to think about.
last year my then boyfriend and i were walking back to my house from taking a walk in the fields on our farm. It was fairly dark out and i spotted a figure walking through the field....thinking it was my dad I yelled for him...he didn't turn. WHen he didn't answer,i stared a little bit and noticed that it was way to tall to be my dad and that my father does not walk with his neck down like that
it freaked me out a little bit but I didn't say anything, thinking that if it was my dad, he was just crabby or something
Not even 10 minutes later, my boyfriend and i were outside talking when my dad came home. I started freaking out. My dad went driving through the fields and looked everywhere for what we had seen but he didn't find anything and was pretty mad at me for my "Imagination"
I never really thought much about it until i read about the encounter on Stone School Rd... the field that whatever we saw was in borders stone school road. I called up my exboyfriend and we started talking about it and analyizing what happened....now we are wondering if what we saw maybe was the Bray WOlf
