Going green is an undeniably growing trend in home building.
The latest trend--particularly in the Midwest--is the eco-village: not just one, but a community of green homes built to harmonize with natural surroundings.
Ketil Bjornstad, Terje Rypdal - Life in Leipzig
I admit to not being very familiar with the ECM "supergroup" - The Sea, of which pianist Bjornstad and guitarist Rypdal were members, along with drummer Jon Christensen and cellist David Darling, but on this new live duo recording, some of the compositions from that short-lived group (they released two albums in the '90s), along with some solo works and a touch of Grieg, form the basis for this pleasantly combustible collaboration. An unlikely pairing of thematic classically-influenced acoustic piano and shredding electric guitar, this partnership works due to the obvious respect of the players and of course, their high level of musicianship. (4 of 5 stars).
On Shy Child's third release, Noise Won't Stop, (their first on the Kill Rock Stars label) the Brooklyn duo of Pete Cafarella (vocals / keytar) and Nate Smith (drums) have crafted an album that pulsates with throbbing dance grooves, '80s synthesizers and tight rhythms that'll either leave you drenched in sweat (if you're the all-night raver type) or icy cold. (3 of 5 stars).
